Bi-Monthly Group Training Sessions

Our bi-monthly group training sessions are designed to give dogs and handlers hands-on experience working in real training setups. These sessions focus on reinforcing obedience and hunting skills while exposing dogs to new environments, distractions, and scenarios.

This is a great opportunity for clients with dogs in our boarding & training program to come out, handle their own dogs, and actively participate in guided setups. Working alongside other dogs helps build steadiness, confidence, and teamwork while allowing owners to stay involved in their dog’s progress.

Started Hunting Retriever Program

Our Started Hunting Retriever Program is designed to give young retrievers a strong, reliable foundation for the field. Dogs in this program are introduced to core obedience and essential hunting concepts while building confidence, drive, and good habits.

Training includes basic obedience, steady retrieves, proper introduction to birds and gunfire, and early field setups that encourage marking and desire. Each dog progresses at an appropriate pace, ensuring a positive learning experience and a solid start toward becoming a dependable hunting companion.

Pointing Dog Training Program

Our Pointing Dog Training Program is built for the upland hunter who wants a dependable, enjoyable dog in the field. We focus on developing strong natural bird instincts, bold yet controlled range, and steady, cooperative hunting behavior.

Training emphasizes real hunting scenarios—finding birds, establishing solid points, and handling birds properly through the shot and retrieve—without sacrificing drive or style. Obedience and field manners are introduced in a way that supports productive days afield, not artificial trial standards.

The goal is a well-rounded pointing dog that hunts with purpose, listens when needed, and makes every hunt more efficient and enjoyable.

Puppy Boarding & Training Program 

Our Puppy Boarding & Training Program is designed for young gun dogs once all vaccinations are complete, providing a safe, structured start during this critical development stage. The focus is on building confidence, good habits, and a strong foundation that supports future hunting and field training.

Puppies are introduced to basic obedience, kennel manners, leash work, socialization, and daily routines. We emphasize positive exposure to new environments, people, and experiences while encouraging natural curiosity and drive. Light introduction to birds and field environments may be included when appropriate, always keeping things fun and pressure-free.

This program helps set young dogs up for long-term success—creating a confident, well-mannered puppy that’s ready to transition smoothly into more advanced gun dog training.

Guided Upland Bird Hunts

We offer guided upland bird hunts behind well-trained pointing and flushing dogs, providing an authentic, enjoyable hunting experience for hunters of all skill levels. Hunts take place in carefully managed upland cover designed to showcase strong dog work, productive bird contacts, and safe, ethical shooting opportunities.

These hunts are also a great opportunity to watch dogs trained by Walker Woods of Woods Family Dog Training perform in real hunting scenarios. Guests can see firsthand how properly trained dogs handle birds, work as a team, and contribute to smooth, efficient hunts from start to finish.
